Susan Bordo talks about the beauty of males body in a story about different mens body parts and how it used in different ways. One of those ways is male models posing in ad commercials and mazagine. The quote that caught my attention is the 2nd one where Susan talks about how male action heros are being marketed and used to pose for products that are used to target different people of both gender. What she is trying to say is that males have been posing products that should be something that only females should be the one posing for products. This relates to my ad about the celebrity matthew mcconaughey posing and taking a photoshoot in his tuxedo to reveal and new male colon for males. This relates to susan quote about male body because normally girls would be posing sexually hot for a photoshoot to reveal a new perfume for the same company. But, the ad isn't a girl, its a male movie star who is used to target males attention and some female attraction. According, to Susan it should be a female movie star who should be posing for a product to attention the attention of females and attraction of males. It just strange to have a male star posing for a product rather than a female in Susan Bordo eyes.
ReplyDeleteYour analysis of the ad in relation to Bordo's quote is interesting. You point out that M.McConaughey is assuming the pose more common for a female. But read over the quote from Bordo's piece, not story, again. She is pointing out the different words are used when products are advertised for men and women.
